Learning More than Language from Duolingo

Duolingo is one of those apps that’s just really good. I use it daily. And that’s by design (their design)— which is something you will learn about if you watch below.

My friend Anja McClellan (she’s also a BKW blog reader—thank you Anja!) sent me a podcast of Tim Ferriss interviewing Duolingo co-founder Luis von Ahn a couple of weeks ago. I finally had some time to listen. It’s really wonderful. Learn about:

  • “Metrics-based teams” (the daily “streak” team is clearly doing a good job… it’s working on me)
  • Laela Sturdy (my neighbor with the best last name)
  • When to micromanage and when to develop teammates
  • And more

Listen to the whole thing (I did) via the first video. Or check out the excerpts further down the page.

Curious how BKW can help you tell your story effectively? Let’s talk.  Our focus is on the technology and life sciences industries.
