The Sony Walkman turned 40 this year. The company released a video that is oddly perfect for the occasion. It starts out awesome (like the early devices that had a huge impact* on culture). Perhaps, like me, you’ll get nostalgic for the satisfying clicking sounds of opening and closing the cassette door. And then… it ends kind of whateverish** (like whatever the Walkman is today).
*Some might say the impact was negative… the device began a trend of isolating us from one another.
**Whateverish as in expensive and undifferentiated. Or differentiated in all the wrong ways.
